When I was a kid I was fascinated by tales of giant robots and galactic exploration.
Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. -Clarke's 3rd Law
This statement provided the basis of shaping my worldview as a designer.
If technology is indistinguishable from magic, then its true power rests in its use and context. Regardless of how captivating a new technology might appear at first glimpse, underneath, technology is just a tool – a prop on a stage that can help tell a story – not an end in and of itself.
My role as a designer resonates deeply with my 9 year old self. I have become a technological magician of sorts. This is why I strive to create – the drive to create a narrative, and to enhance of the process of life. I design to create the sense of awe I felt as a kid.
